The Benton MacKaye Trail begins at Springer Mountain, GA (the AT’s southern terminus) and arcs through Tennessee and North Carolina before reconnecting with the AT at Fontana Dam. It covers similar terrain to the southern AT but with a small fraction of the foot traffic.
