The Lone Star Hiking Trail is the longest hiking-only trail in Texas at 128 miles through Sam Houston National Forest north of Houston. The trail is best hiked in winter months (Nov-Mar) when temperatures are mild and the forest is less humid. A popular option for Gulf Coast hikers.
