Te Araroa (The Long Pathway) runs the full length of New Zealand from Cape Reinga in the North Island to Bluff in the South Island. The trail crosses volcanic plateau, fiords, and the Southern Alps, and is best hiked southbound starting in November. It is the thru-hike of the Southern Hemisphere.
