The International AT extends the Appalachian Mountain chain beyond Katahdin through Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and onto the island of Ireland. The geological Appalachian chain continues underwater across the Atlantic, making this one of the most unusual long-distance routes in existence.
